Know when to fold ‘em

I’m no age-ist (like racist, but with age instead of race, got it?), but I think it’s time for Dick Clark to call it a day and just hand the baton to Ryan Seacrest.

Or better yet, hand it to somebody that doesn’t annoy me. My top 3 picks to host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” (yes, that’s the actual title of the show) are:

1. Jimmy Kimmel

2. Ronnie James Dio

One more aught to go

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Only one more year left in the ‘2000-aughts’ before we hit the ‘2000-tens.’ Let’s end it like so many bloggers do…with a list of cool things of 2008.

#10 - Xbox Live and Netflix merger (a 2nd method of using my video game system strictly for movie enjoyment)

#9 -  New automobiles (Tracy has a newer car, and I’m back to a truck)

#8 - Funnyordie.com (The best place for killing productivity rates)

#7 - Installing air conditioning in the house (Both my core temperature and whining were reduced by 50%)

#6 - Movies (finally, a year of critically- AND commercially-successful flicks: Wall*E, Pineapple Express, The Dark Knight, etc.)

#5 - Portland Trailblazers (OK, so this current season is technically 2008-2009, but they are so fun to watch this year, and they beat the Celtics last night!)

#4 - The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg of SNL and his pals basically pioneered the scripted-and-weird video scene. TLI is their group, and you will get sick of them in 2009.)

#3 - Pop Candy (Tracy turned me on to this pop culture blog. Now she doesn’t even read it, and I read it at least twice daily.)

#2 - KATU’s 11:00 News (Steve Dunn is the closest thing to Ron Burgundy…so much innuendo and borderline sexual harrassment.)

#1 -  Sarah Palin NOT winning the VP seat (Remember, this is not necessarily a Pr-Obama site, but we’re definitely anti-Palin around these parts. Cronyism, druggie in-laws, you betcha’s, hunting from helicopters…she’s perfect for Alaska, and she should stay there.)

Are cults recruiting via infomercials?

The Snuggie.

I find informercials amusing, but this one seems to have some kind of subliminal agenda behind it.
